A Swedish automaker has just launched an electric, driverless truck with the name Autonomous Electric Transport – AET. The new AET model will have 4 versions. The first two versions – AET 1 and AET 2 – have a speed of over 30 km / h, weigh 26 tons, a payload of 16 tons and the battery can run 130-180 km with each full charge. AET 3 and AET 4 have similar weight and payload, maximum speed is 45 km/h and 85 km/h respectively. The four versions will have different operating ranges or self-driving conditions. Einride Gen 2 Rigid Large autonomous electric truck

The manufacturer claims its new vehicles will “reduce transportation costs by 60% and CO2 emissions by an incredible 90%”, a claim that cannot be verified, as the company does not yet have a regulation. complete business model.

This vehicle is using Nvidia’s self-driving software to achieve Level 4 (meaning the vehicle will run, operate, and completely drive-free under certain conditions). The vehicle can also be controlled remotely, traveling hundreds of miles using Phantom Auto teleoperation technology. The use of this technology can help the Einride overcome obstacles caused by the driving terrain. It is expected that the car will be put into use in 2021.

However, the image of driverless cars will change the workforce quite a lot. In the US, there are 4.4 million driver-related jobs; of which, trucking jobs account for about 2.5 million. A recent study found that autonomous trucks could reduce driver demand by 50 to 70 percent in the US and Europe by 2030, and 4.4 million out of 6.4 million professional drivers in the United States. both continents will become redundant.
