Super Bowl LVI: Inside This Week’s Biggest Concerts, Events and Parties

Highlights from the A-list celebrations taking place across Los Angeles ahead of Sunday’s big game.

As Los Angeles plans to host its first Super Bowl in nearly 30 years — and this time with a home team in contention — the city is gearing up for plenty of festivities. From A-list concerts to star-studded parties, here’s a look inside L.A.’s biggest Hollywood events leading up to the big game.

Homecoming Weekend from The h.wood Group and Revolve, night two

Revolve and The h.wood Group’s Homecoming Weekend celebration, presented by PLACES.CO and Flow.com, produced by Uncommon Entertainment, partied on for the second and final night of their Super Bowl bash on Saturday. Hosted once again at West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center, the anticipated event of the night was a special performance by Drake.

The rapper arrived on the scene in an all-white outfit, playing a 45-minute set of hits both new and old — from songs “No Friends in the Industry” and “Girls Want Girls” from his recent album Certified Lover Boy to other hits like “Passionfruit,” “Nonstop,” “God’s Plan,” “Controlla” and “Laugh Now, Cry Later.” The Grammy winner surprised the audience with an appearance from frequent collaborator Future for a performance of their hit single “Way 2 Sexy.” Despite being asked to play only a short set of five songs, Drake decided to extend his performance by triple the amount.

“They flew me out of like three feet of snow for this, so I got to perform for you,” the rapper told the audience.

Prior to his arrival, attendees mingled throughout the party, with many clamoring for a spot near the stage as the night drew on. Of the approximately 1,500 attendees at the invite-only event, the party played host to many Hollywood stars including Adele, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Hamm, Justin Bieber, Cardi B, Lizzo, Jamie Foxx, Issa Rae, Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo, Dipolo, Jack Harlow, Cedric the Entertainer, Chloe Bailey, Eric Andre, Anthony Ramos, Tobey Maguire, Ross Butler and Mike Tyson. NFL stars Mason Rudolph, Matthew Judon, Ian Thomas and Aaron Jones were also in attendance, along with UFC fighter Nate Diaz. — Sydney Odman

Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest with Miley Cyrus and Green Day

On Saturday, Miley Cyrus and Green Day co-headlined the third and final night of the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest at Crypto.com Arena. Cyrus performed a 90-minute set spanning her Hannah Montana days to her Bangerz-era hits and new songs off of her 2020 album Plastic Hearts, with plenty of covers thrown in in between. She took a few minutes to address the audience, thanking fans for giving her career “this type of longevity, and not a day goes by that I’m not thankful for each and every one of you” through the many phases of her career.

The star also took time to acknowledge the impact that not performing live for two years amid the pandemic has had on her, saying, “this is feeling new to me again, which is fucking exciting but it’s also terrifying. Something that should feel so natural just doesn’t anymore, and I just wanted to be honest about standing up here right now — it doesn’t feel the same as if you would have come to see me three or four years ago. I’m just finding my feet up on this platform again.”

Green Day also took the stage, rocking out to their hits including “American Idiot,” “Holiday” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong joked at one point about the arena’s recent name change, saying, “I was just thinking Green Day’s never played Staples Center — turns out we never will! Fucking Crypto shit.”
