Man City have plenty of attacking players but Pep Guardiola’s team have their eyes on a potential successor to Erling Haaland at one of their sister clubs. It could cost up to £87m for Man City to sign the new Haaland.
Specifically, according to the Mirror (UK), Manchester City is interested in signing a player dubbed ‘Brazilian Erling Haaland’. 17-year-old striker Wendeson Wanderley Santos de Melo – nicknamed Dell – has shone in Bahia’s current youth team. Melo scored 40 goals in 34 matches for the Brazil U-17 team in 2023. His impressive scoring record helped Melo make his debut for Bahia’s first team at the age of 16, and was also dubbed “Sertao’s Haaland”.
And it turns out Melo could soon be joining Haaland’s side as ESPN claim Man City are keeping a close eye on Melo’s performances, while Italian giants AC Milan are also interested in him.

Now, despite possessing a strong attack, Man City could sign the new Haaland. Meanwhile, the “real” Haaland signed a record nine -and-a-half-year contract with Man City earlier this year, although Barcelona are still rumored to be looking to sign the Norwegian striker in the future.
Speaking about Erling Haaland’s future, Man City coach Pep Guardiola said: “I don’t think Erling Haaland is stupid enough to sign a contract he doesn’t want. That’s for sure. But football , who knows what will happen next. Nobody knows.”
Erling Haaland continues to maintain his impressive form this season, scoring 12 goals in just nine appearances in all competitions for Man City.
