Selena Gomez put on a brave face as she arrived at the premiere of her new movie Emilia Perez on Monday, after speaking out about her infertility struggles.
The 32-year-old newly-named billionaire – who revealed that pregnancy is not an option for her – looked stunning on the red carpet in black sequined evening gown.
Emilia Perez is a Spanish-language French musical crime comedy film written and directed by Jacques Audiard, that also stars Zoe Saldana.
Gomez appeared to be all smiles for the cameras as she arrived, despite her comments that surfaced the same day as the premiere.
‘I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while,’ she told Vanity Fair.
Gomez suffers from Lupus, an autoimmune disease and had a kidney transplant in 2017. Additionally, she is on medication to manage her bi-polar disorder.

‘[But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,’ she said.
‘It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people,’ she continued.
‘I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,’m she said.
The hitmaker’s mother, Mandy Teefey, was adopted and Gomez has said for years she is open to becoming a parent that way.
‘I probably wouldn’t be here [if Teefey hadn’t been adopted]. I don’t know what her life would’ve been like. She and I are very thankful for how life played out.’
And however it happens, her adoring boyfriend Benny Blanco is on board.
Selena began dating the music producer about a year ago, right around the time her summer 2023 hit, Single Soon, was released.
And now, the couple may be getting ready to take the next step.
In May, during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the host brought up the topic.
‘You are some boyfriend, you’re knocking it out of the park,’ Stern said after learning about Blanco’s elaborate Valentine’s Day gift. It included a private movie screening and all of Gomez’s favorite snacks.
‘I see love here, I’m predicting marriage.’ the shock jock said. ‘You and me both,’ replied Blanco.
‘He can’t lie,’ the Emilia Perez star also told Vanity Fair for the October 2024 issue’s cover story.
‘After the interview, I was dying laughing. Like, “Anything else you wanted to put out there?”‘
The Calm Down artist said she wasn’t putting any pressure on Blanco to pop the question.
