Scarlett, then 33, didn’t just deny the allegations but was quick to label them as demeaning.
In a pᴀssionate retort, she emphasized her autonomy over her relationships: “I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships.” Scarlett’s response to these claims was a testament to her strong character. She further called out the claim’s originator, Brendan Tighe, stating, “Only a man aka Brendan Tighe would come up with a crazy story like that.” 
The allegations came from Brendan Tighe, a former Scientologist, during an interview on Megyn Kelly Today. Tighe posited that after the dissolution of Cruise’s marriage to Nicole Kidman, there were auditions for his next girlfriend, and Scarlett’s name was the only one he remembered from the supposed list. 
However, Johansson was not the only one to debunk these claims. The Church Of Scientology also refuted Tighe’s stories. Their spokesperson, Karin Pouw, clarified Tighe’s limited role within the Church and his eventual removal for not fulfilling his duties.
