DJ Khaled joined his “GOD DID” partners Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, John Legend, Jay-Z, and Fridayy for an incredible show-closing performance, capping off Music’s Biggest Night in a star-studded fashion.
With a stellar group that included Jay-Z, John Legend, Lil Wayne, Fridayy, and Rick Ross, DJ Khaled wrapped up the 2023 Grammy Awards with their collaboration, “GOD DID.”
With Legend seated behind a flower-covered piano and the others seated at an extravagant, overflowing table in the style of the Last Supper, the assembled MCs and singers spilled into the street outside L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena, spitting their verses and singing their hooks bathed in purple light.
“They were against us winning! I therefore made sure to be alongside the biggest on the GRAMMY stage! This is for the hip-hop genre. Between Ross and Lil Wayne’s verses, Khaled yelled. Later, Jay-Z took center stage when he testified, saying, “These are hymns because I’m him, not songs.” This New Testament passage, Psalm 151, tells of Jesus turning water into wine in the book of Hove. For Hove, it only required a stove.
At this year’s awards ceremony, the great hit received three nominations: Song Of The Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. God Did was nominated for Best Rap Album.
The Future and SZA-assisted album cut off GOD DID, “BEAUTIFUL,” earned the superproducer a sixth nomination in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category. As a guest performer on Mary J. Blige’s Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe), which is nominated for Album Of The Year, he received another nomination.
The first track “Staying Alive” featuring Drake and Lil Baby from GOD DID gave Khaled his seventh career Top 10 success on the Billboard Hot 100 during the course of 2022. Additionally, it was his fourth album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 charts.
