Michael Caine had his hands down the shirt of Sandra Bullock for a scene in the 2000 film Miss Congeniality!
Back in the year 2000, veteran actress Sandra Bullock decided to star in a film titled Miss Congeniality. Starring an ensemble cast of actors like William Shatner, Michael Caine, and, Benjamin Bratt, the film was an R-rated comedy that received great reviews after its release.
Starring alongside Bullock, veteran actor Michael Caine had a scene in the film wherein he has to fondle Sandra Bullock’s bre*sts. Despite the filming being a bit awkward for Bullock, the actress revealed that Michael Caine kept a professional face throughout the shooting of the scene!
Michael Caine, Sandra Bullock, And That Scene From Miss Congeniality
Before we delve into how it happened, we need to talk about “why” that scene happened. Miss Congeniality showed Sandra Bullock as a tom-boyish FBI agent who infiltrates the Miss United States beauty pageant because of a bomb threat.
During the entire film, Michael Caine’s role of Victor Melling is a beauty pageant consultant who essentially teaches Sandra Bullock how to be more feminine. Since this is an R-rated comedy, there were some awkward physical contact and humorous exchanges throughout the movie.
One of the most notable and awkward moments in the film was when Michael Caine’s character had his hand down Bullock’s shirt. In an interview (via Cinema) Bullock talked about that scene and how Caine maintained a professional face throughout the entire filming of that scene.
I was like, ‘Oh my God Michael Caine is gonna be touching my b**bs! How do you be calm about that! But you just gotta do your job. Michael Caine’s got his hands down my shirt. No sweat, nothing. Maybe he didn’t find anything; I don’t know!
Well, Michael Caine kept his level of professionalism and the scene was shot. The scene became one of the several comedic scenes littered throughout the film. Although Miss Congeniality didn’t win great reviews or notable awards, the film remains a guilty pleasure for people to watch.
Before the 2000 film, however, Sandra Bullock found fame for starring alongside Keanu Reeves in the 1994 film Speed. Since their on-screen chemistry was so good, people thought that the duo would continue to star in movies together.
“Before Our Eyes Close”
After a long while, the duo appeared in an interview together and talked about their lives. Starring together back in 1994 in Speed, the world loved their on-screen chemistry and wanted more of it. In a recent interview, Reeves and Bullock talked about how they need to share the screen one more time
Sandra Bullock is best known for her on-screen chemistry with John Wick star Keanu Reeves. Although it wasn’t a romantic relationship of any sort, the two became lifelong friends and the world wishes to see them united one day.
Although it would have been a normal interview on the 50 MPH podcast but Keanu Reeves decided to make it poetic by adding one simple sentence to his answer. Here’s what Sandra Bullock said about working together with Reeves again.
Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera… Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?
On the other hand, Keanu Reeves dropped this iconic line:
It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn’t done. I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.
We eagerly await the day when the couple will be seen once again on the big screens. On the other hand, the Michael Caine and Sandra Bullock starrer, Miss Congeniality received a rating of 6.3/10 on IMDB and a low of 41% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Against a budget of $45 million, the film managed to earn a box office collection of $212.7 million.
