Keanu Reeves to host new F1 docuseries on Button’s 2009 title triumph on Disney+ to rival Netflix hit Drive To Survive

KEANU REEVES will be the host of a new Formula One docuseries on Disney+ set to rival Drive To Survive.

F1 has enjoyed an explosion in global popularity in recent seasons – in no small part thanks to the hit Netflix show.

And Disney+ are hoping to get in on the action with an in-depth look into the incredible 2009 season.

Hollywood A-Lister Reeves, 57, is well-known for being a petrolhead and even attended the British Grand Prix earlier this month.

The Speed, The Matrix and John Wick star is now set to host a four-part show focusing on the 2009 F1 season, won by then-Brawn GP star Jenson Button.

The docuseries will explore the unprecedented rise of the championship-winning team – previously known as Honda before Ross Brawn took over.

It will also look into the controversy surrounding the potential Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) breakaway series and new regulations to hit the sport that year.

Button and Brawn are both set to feature in the docuseries, along with ex-Ferrari star Rubens Barrichello and many more.

Speaking at Silverstone, Reeves revealed: “We want to tell that amazing remarkable story [of Brawn GP]… there is so much to talk about.

“A friend of mine was telling me the story and I was so struck by it.

“He was actually working for Brawn back in the day in publicity and he’s a producer/director and so we were like, well let’s try and tell that story.

“It’s been really great to be able to learn more about what was going on in Formula One that year.

“It wasn’t just the cars… there were new regulations, FOTA breakaway series.

“I mean, there was just so much happening in Formula One at that time.

“The world of Formula One was just extraordinary.

“It’s always extraordinary, but in that year with Brawn GP I think something really special happened.”

Disney+ refused to confirm the show was in the works when asked by Variety.

But it’s believed the F1 docuseries will hit our screens around autumn 2023.
