He played a former hitman who was lured out of retirement in 2014’s breakout hit, John Wick.
And it seems the baddies are not going to let Keanu Reeves’ character withdraw from mayhem and murder in John Wick: Chapter 2.
The second action-packed trailer, released on Monday, shows the 52-year-old as John leaving his usual trail of devastation and dead bodies behind him.
John is forced out of retirement once more by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild.
Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.
The 107-second trailer kicks off with John laying waste to a handful of heavies before smash cutting to New York where his former colleague says in a sinister voice: ‘I need you to do this task.’
‘I’m not that guy anymore,’ John replies. ‘You are always that guy, John,’ the man replies. ‘If you don’t do this you know the consequences.’
In another fiery scene, he is blown through a floor-to-ceiling window when his home is blown up by a rocket.
Another fast cut goes to Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King, intoning, ‘Get this man…a gun’ setting up John to raise the body count again.
Meanwhile, Ian McShane reprises his role as Winston, the owner of the Continental, a hotel catering exclusively to assassins and the criminal underworld.
He warns John that an international hit has been ordered on him.
‘Whoever comes, I’ll kill them, I’ll kill them all…,’ John snarls. ‘Of course you will,’ Winston calmly replies.
Also starring in the movie are Ruby Rose, Common, Riccardo Scamarcio, Bridget Moynahan, Lance Reddick, Franco Nero and John Leguizamo and Ian McShane.
