Bryan Cranston is very proud of his work in Breaking Bad, one of the best television series fans have seen in the last decade. The story follows the actor’s character, Walter White, in his descent into moral depravity. From a chemistry teacher, he becomes a drug dealer.

Breaking Bad

The show has had a lot of momentous scenes that brought a whirlwind of emotions to fans, but Cranston has one favorite in particular which he believed was only right for it to happen in the series.

Bryan Cranston’s Favorite Breaking Bad Moment Is Not What Fans Expected

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Bryan Cranston opened up about his role as Walter White in Breaking Bad and shared his most unforgettable scene from the show. Many fans would guess he loved the chaotic fights and adrenaline-pumping scenes, but he actually loved the most heart-wrenching one.

All these things had to go right — and everything went right! It was fantastic! I remember the characters celebrating euphorically in pulling off the train heist of the century. And a moment later, an innocent life is snuffed out when that kid on the motorcycle just shows up. He’s just there.”

Dead Freight is an hour of action-packed suspense found in Season 5, Episode 5. It opened with a young boy riding a bike through the desert and trapping a tarantula in his jar. As the chaos unfolds and Walt, Mike, Jesse, and Todd successfully rob a train without anyone getting harmed, they see the same kid who apparently witnessed the crime.

And as Jesse and Walt are trying to figure out, ‘Oh s—t, what do we do?’ Jesse Plemons’ character just raises a gun and shoots him. And it was like, ‘Oh my God!’ It was such a beautifully constructed narrative: Okay, you want to experience the highs with Walter White? You want to be on that train ride with Jesse Pinkman? Here’s that rejoicing for you, the audience.”

The audience saw what kind of a psychopath Todd Alquist is when he took the child’s tarantula as a pet. Cranston further concluded:

And now here’s the repercussions from the business that they’re in. Here’s what happens when you forget that there’s morality connected and consequences to every action. It was just so amazing.”

The supposed-to-be happy celebration of a successful heist that was ruined by an innocent child getting murdered is a testament to the characters’ questionable morality.

Walter White’s Best Line From Breaking Bad

While that depressing scene was Bryan Cranston’s favorite moment from Breaking Bad, his favorite line is somewhat different. In another conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the actor shared his favorite Walter White line: “Tread lightly.”

First of all, it’s only two words so I go through it quickly. So, there. I confess. There is an expediency to it — and economy. I enjoy brevity.”

Of course, the conciseness is not the only thing that speaks to Cranston but also its relevance to his character. He remarked that it is White’s credo:

In many ways, he was very careful. Even though he stepped into landmines, he was very careful almost all the time… When he didn’t follow that credo is when he found himself in the most troubling condition.”

Breaking Bad is quite a successful franchise that spun into five seasons with two popular spinoffs, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie and Better Call Saul.

Breaking Bad is available to stream on Netflix.
