Eminemâs massive hit song âStanâ turned 25 this year â Slim Shady was only 28 when the single (and its album, The Marshall Mathers LP), were released. The song about an obsessive (and crazy) fan is so iconic that it actually spawned the addition of the term âstanâ to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.

Stans follows a cast of real-life Eminem super fans; you decide if theyâre nuts or not. The feature-length doc âexamines the complicated relationship between one of the worldâs most private artists and his massive public persona,â per its logline. âThrough stylized recreations, rare archival footage and intimate original interviews, it offers a raw, loud and revealing journey across Eminemâs career â and the passionate audience that has grown with him.â

ââStanâ is one of the most unconventional songs ever written, where the story is mostly told from a fanâs perspective, so this film was an incredible opportunity to find a unique approach,â Leckart said in a statement. âWe kept coming back to one lyric from the song: âIâm just like you.â Fans who echo that same sentiment carry much of the film. But like the song, Marshallâs perspective was also essential to the movie. Iâm grateful for just how candid, sincere, and frequently hilarious he was.â

Stans, from Shady Films, premiered at the inaugural SXSW London earlier this year. In addition to Slim Shady, his manager Paul Rosenberg executive produces alongside Stuart Parr, Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, David Schiff, Bruce Gillmer, Amanda Culkowski and Michael Maniaci. DIGA Studios, Fuqua Films, Interscope Films and MTV Entertainment Studios produced with Emâs own banner.
