Spider-Man’s Tragic Journey in Marvel’s Phase 4 Paves the Way for Tom Holland’s Venom Saga

The sad events of Phase 4’s Spider-Man: No Way Home have already set up the ideal plot for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4. Executives from Marvel Studios and the film’s lead actor, Tom Holland, who has played Peter Parker in the MCU since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, are meeting to discuss Spider-Man 4’s development.

Subsequently, Holland has directed three solo Spider-Man films as Parker: Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021). Together, these Spider-Man productions have been referred to as the “Home Trilogy”. Parker’s future in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4 is unclear after Phase 4, though.

In the fourth phase of the MCU, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker faced off against a gang of multiversal villains after facing off against the Vulture in Homecoming, Thanos in Infinity War, and Mysterio in Far From Home 2.

The MCU welcomed the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Sandman from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, together with Lizard and Electro from Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man movie, in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which pitted them against three different Spider-Mans. Peter Parker had to make some painful choices and sacrifices because the multiverse’s fate was in jeopardy, but these have prepared him for an even more dramatic plot in Spider-Man 4.

Why the Best Location for the MCU’s Venom Story Is in Spider-Man 4

In Spider-Man 4, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker might need to return to simpler times, transforming Spider-Man into a more low-key hero after his earlier MCU outings that involved some major plotlines. Tom Holland would have a character-driven, intimate plot in Spider-Man 4 if he were to infect Parker with the Venom symbiote.

The greatest way to capitalize on the horrific events of Spider-Man: No Way Home would be to introduce Venom, even though it’s unknown when Spider-Man 4 will be released in the MCU. Doctor Strange’s spell and Peter Parker’s loss of his friends leave him in a very vulnerable position.
