Kaley Cuoco was no pushover during her divorce, walking away with $98 million. The actress had a prenup in place.
As it turns out, Scarlett Johansson didn’t have a prenup with Ryan Reynolds, but was still able to handle things under amicable terms. By the end of it, the settlement was very fair for both sides. We’ll take a look back at the process and what took place. We’ll also take a look at Johansson’s second divorce and why things were made a lot more complicated.
Without A Prenup, Scarlett Johansson Walked Away With 50% Of The Couple’s Earnings And Refused Spousal Support
Scarlett Johansson has experienced two divorces. As it turns out, her settlement with ex Ryan Reynolds was far less complicated than her other divorce that would come years later with Romain Dauriac.
According to Daily Mail, the divorce was finalized between Johansson and Reynolds six months after their split. It was Reynolds that filed for divorce two years after their wedding, citing irreconcilable differences.

Ryan’s attorney’s papers went public and, according to the settlement, everything was split down the middle, and there weren’t complications despite a prenup not being in place.
Ultimately, neither asked for any spousal support either. Daily Mail writes, “In the papers, filed by Ryan’s attorney – the famous celebrity lawyer Laura Wᴀsser – the couple are splitting all earnings made during the marriage 50/50 as there was no prenuptial agreement. However, neither parties have asked for spousal support.”
Although Ryan and Scarlett tried to keep the details quiet, fans sensed things weren’t right after a particular Reynolds interview with GQ. The actor revealed that things had changed between himself and Scarlett when they got married. He might’ve been hinting that there was tension behind the scenes. Shortly after, the couple split
Scarlett Johansson’s Divorce Settlement With Romain Dauriac Was A Lot More Complicated
Johansson remarried in 2014 just three years after her divorce to Reynolds was finalized. Once again, the marriage was short-lived, this one lasting three years. The divorce was finalized in 2017. However, according to People, Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac finalizing their divorce turned into a custody fight.

Things were made complicated between the two given the daughter they share, Rose Dorothy Dauriac. Romain demanded in court that his daughter be raised in France.
People writes, “Johansson filed divorce papers on March 7 asking for primary physical custody of their 3-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy Dauriac. Dauriac fought the request, insisting that the child be raised in France, and noting that Johansson’s busy work schedule requires heavy traveling. “He believes that her schedule makes it impossible for her to have [primary] physical custody,” Dauriac’s lawyer, Harold Mayerson, told People.”
Johansson, on the other hand, refused to go public with what was going on during the divorce settlement.
“As a devoted mother and private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage.”
She added, “Out of respect for my desires as a parent and out of respect for all working moms, it is with kindness that I ask other parties involved and the media to do the same.”
Ultimately, it all worked out just fine as the two issued a joint statement once the settlement was reached, stating that they were on amicable terms and dedicated to co-parenting together despite the split.

The actress would go on to speak about her current marriage to Colin Jost, explaining that she learned from her failed marriages and finally found what she was looking for.
“I didn’t know what I wanted or needed from somebody else,” she said. “I never realized, ‘Oh, it’s really important for me—I need to be with a compᴀssionate person. That’s a fundamental characteristic that has to be there.’”
Everything happens for a reason, and Johansson seems to be doing just fine with her personal life nowadays.
