Steph Curry Shares Messages for Chris Paul, Jordan Poole After Wizards Trade

Warriors star Steph Curry sent best wishes to his former teammate, Jordan Poole, and welcomed Chris Paul hours after Golden State’s trade with the Wizards became official on Thursday.

Golden State traded Poole, Patrick Baldwin, Ryan Rollins, a 2027 second round draft pick and a 2030 first round draft pick to Washington for the 12-time All-Star guard. Curry posted a video in his Instagram story praising Poole’s growth in his four-year run with the franchise while also hyping up Paul as he joins the team.

“Just [want to] say JP how much I appreciated the four years brother, you’re champion,” Curry said in the video. “You grew up right in front of everybody’s face. That first year, it was rough with a lot of injuries, and trying to find your way, to going to the G-League and coming back, and helping us finish 15–5 that second year, us winning a championship your third year and fighting to the end this past year. … I can’t wait to see you shine in your own situation.

“… CP, can’t wait to rock with you brother. It’s gone be different with us on the same side. Let’s get it, let’s get it!”

Last season, the 24-year-old Poole registered career highs in points (20.4) and assists (4.5) per game through 82 games. Even more, Poole played an integral role in Golden State’s NBA title run in the ’21–22 campaign, averaging 17 points per game while shooting 50.8% from the field, 39.1 % from beyond the arc and 91.5% from the free-throw line that postseason.

The former No. 28 pick in the 2019 NBA draft finished his Warriors’ career averaging 15.8 points, 3.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds. Meanwhile, Paul ended last season with the Suns averaging 13.9 points, 8.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.54 steals in only 59 games due to injury.
