Steph Curry comments on Kevin Durant speak volumes about their relationship

Steph Curry and Kevin Durant shared a special moment in 2021 after the then-Brooklyn Nets star showed up at the two-time NBA MVP’s celebratory night after breaking the all-time NBA three-point record against the New York Knicks.

Durant, 34, made a surprise appearance to celebrate his former Golden State Warriors teammate’s milestone and the pair’s interaction has now been released two years later in the new “Stephen Curry: Underrated” documentary.

“Get the f–k out of here, bro. Sorry for my language, mama. I’m so sorry,” Curry said as Durant entered.

Durant responded: “I had to come over here and say what’s up. Love you, brother.”

The NBA stars continued to talk, reminiscing on their time together on the court as competitors and as teammates. “I love that dude, man,” Curry said of Durant to a friend out of the power forward’s hearing radius. “The most misunderstood dude in this freaking league right there.”

Curry and Durant spent three years together at the Warriors, winning back-to-back NBA Championships in 2017 and 2018. Durant then decided to join Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn in 2019, a decision that drew him heat – criticism that still follows him to this day in Phoenix.

Point guard Curry calling Durant “misunderstood” could also be referring to the Suns’ star’s regular verbal sparring with his critics online. Durant and has previously used burner accounts on social media to defend himself.

“C’mon [sic], you know what happened,” Durant said on why he gets heavy-handed treatment. “Because I went to the Warriors. But it’s just like I’ve seen it, it’s not just a ‘me’ thing, like, there are a lot of players amongst a lot of sports that interact with their people on Twitter, Instagram, socials, and I don’t hear the ‘sensitive’ rep about them.”

Durant added: “Hell, no, I don’t regret anything I do. I don’t regret my time in the league because I feel like I maximise every day as a player. I feel like I get the most out of myself every time I step on the floor.”

The NBA star has since ditched the use of online burner accounts to respond to fan criticism and has decided to use his official social media channels. More recently, he hit out at Nets fans, claiming that they’re “obsessed” with him. Durant also sparred with an account, telling the user to “Shut ya friendly a** up” in a sensational Twitter frenzy.
